*) A half-frontal lathe features a two-piece machine bed (Z-axis) instead of the one-piece design of other lathes. The
bottom section is longer and the somewhat shorter section, which is the actual machine bed, is placed on a slideway
and is moved by means of a separate drive unit.
This design makes it possible to machine workpieces with larger or very different diameters (e.g. drums, fan impellers,
etc.), which in turn allows increased flexibility of mechanical production.
